Answers
Is Biosüße a natural product?
Erythritol is the raw material of Biosüße, which is gained in a fermentation process of a 100% natural, GMO-free resource we find in small amounts in ripe fruits such as melons, pears, and grapes. This means, we have eaten Erythritol before! Also fermenting food products such as cheese, wine, and soya sauce contain this raw material we use for Biosüße. It also occurs in the human body and is approved.
Is Biosüße the same as aspartame, cyclamate or sucralose?
Definitely not as Biosüße is a purely natural produced product that does not contain any synthetic sweetener, preservatives or aroma. Whereas aspartame, cyclamate or sucralose are synthetic products, which are artificially produced, a hundred times sweeter than sugar and not suitable for baking or cooking due to their difficult dosing and lack of volume. There are hardly any secure studies on long-term effects by using synthetic sweeteners, especially by combining them. The studies show many varied results about unhealthy aspects. This uncertain health factor makes people not to use synthetic sweetener.
Is Biosüße similar to fructose or fruit sugar?
No. Fructose is similar to sugar and contains (similar to retail sugar) 400 calories per gram. Biosüße is free of calories and carbs. Most diabetic products contain fruit sugar, which is very controversial as studies show that although fruit sugar has less influence on the blood sugar level than retail sugar, it has several other unfavourable effects. It is said to have an effect on overweight and may cause abdominal pain, flatulence, gout, and diarrhoea. Biosüße is the best alternative for diabetics, as it has no influence on the blood sugar level.
Is Biosüße similar to xylitol or birch sugar?
Biosüße is a sugar alcohol such as xylitol and birch sugar as well as maltitol and sorbitol are. The difference is that Biosüße does not contain calories or digestible carbohydrates. In normal amounts, it does also not cause the known side effects of other sugar alcohols. This is because erythritol, the basic substance of Biosüße, is the smallest sugar alcohol within the group of sugar alcohols. Biosüße is almost completely absorbed in the small intestine and excreted unchanged via the kidneys. Therefore, it is exceptionally well tolerated and free of calories. The metabolism is breaking down birch sugar into fructose and is also highly dangerous for several pets. Both does not apply to Biosüße!
Is Biosüße a carbohydrate?
Biosüße is a sugar alcohol, which in some countries formally belongs to the group of carbohydrates, but it behaves completely differently from e.g. retail sugar or starch. It is almost completely excreted unchanged via the kidneys and due to this not converted into energy. Biosüße is thus entirely suitable for diabetics and for all who strive for a sugar-free and low-carb diet. You don’t need to consider them regarding carbohydrate exchange or carbohydrates.
Can I use Biosüße during an anti-fungal-diet?
Biosüße is not nourishing fungus Candida albicans and can therefore be consumed.
Is Biosüße suitable for diabetics?
Biosüße has no effect on the blood sugar levels nor on insulin release. Hundreds of diabetological institutes get on demand information and samples to elucidate this to persons concerned.
Is Biosüße suitale for patients with gluten, fructose, and lactose intolerance?
Biosüße contains no filler and is completely free of gluten, lactose, and fructose. It is not metabolized via fructose and is well tolerated by these patients as well as patients with other food intolerances or food allergies.
Is Biosüße harmless to children?
In contrast to other organic sugar alcohols such as birch sugar or maltitol, Biosüße is mostly better tolerated by children and often recommended by experts. Also other sweeteners are not suitable for children. Children under the age of 1 year should for example not eat honey as it has an effect on the increase of blood sugar, even more than normal retail sugar. The main component of agave syrup is fructose with all its well-known health concerns.
Is Biosüße harmless for pets?
Yes. In contrast to xylitol (birch sugar), which is mostly deadly for pets, Biosüße is completely harmless for them.
How is Biosüße produced?
Biosüße is produced from certified organic corn. It is obtained through fermentation with live cultures, a natural process similar to that used in making yoghurt. This process changes the structure of the sugar and makes it lose its calories.
Since when is Biosüße approved in Europe?
For 25 years now Erythritol is used worldwide. Since over 10 years, it has been approved without any limitations for diabetics or children in Europe. Therefore, Biosüße is a well-proven and trusted product.
Is Biosüße harmless in all aspects of health?
The leading scientific magazine “Food and chemical Toxicology” has released a 36 pages long study, which had critically and in-depth investigated any possible health effects, proofing that no such could be found. Apparently the natural occurrence in the human body is the reason for the good tolerability. Biosüße is not only harmless and exceptionally well-tolerated, it also offers many health benefits. Scientific studies provide a good overview.
Why does Biosüße refer to a laxative effect in case of high dosing?
The EU-approval requires this label as sugar alcohols generally have a laxative effect above a certain dose. This means that they are not allowed for industrial production of beverages as thereby higher quantities are consumed. This legislation applies to all sugar alcohols, which means that Biosüße must have this label although it is very well-tolerated in normal amounts. The tolerance limits of Biosüße are many times over xylitol, birch sugar, maltitol, or any other sugar alcohol. In contrast to Stevia, the EU authorities waived any regulation regarding a recommended daily dose.
Is Biosüße free of from genetically modified products?
Biosüße is produced from certified organic corn. The flawless quality is regularly tested by the German institute “CERES”.
Is Biosüße kosher?
Certificates proof that Biosüße is kosher and halal.
What means sugar alcohol?
Sugar alcohol is a natural substance which has similarities in structure with sugar and alcohol. Don’t be irritated: Biosüße is neither an alcohol nor a sugar. The consumption is perfectly safe for children, pregnant women, or sober alcoholics. Biosüße has no alcoholic effect whatsoever.
How does Biosüße differ from other erythritol products?
Biosüße is the only erythritol with a certified organic quality in Europe. Biosüße is therefore Europe’s first and only organic sweetener without calories.
